One major issue that causes many people to decide not to evacuate during natural disasters is that a large number of people do not want to leave their pets. Many evacuation shelters do not accept pets, and pet-owners may not be comfortable leaving their pets in the shelters that do. Additionally, it is difficult to transport pets, especially when an entire family is leaving with most of their belongings. The creation of a platform to connect evacuating pet owners with animal-loving foster homes would relieve this issue of evacuation, helping increase the percentage of people evacuating and thereby minimizing loss of life.
