In the state of Georgia, there exists a scarcity of home solar systems despite solar-friendly climate and the environmental advantages of solar energy. In an attempt to increase the adoption and effectiveness of solar energy, we are investigating viable ways to improve the sustainability and efficiency of household solar systems. One idea that we have is to use graphene quantum dots as a tool to increase the spectrum of light that solar panels can harness and thus increase the efficiency of the panels themselves. We are also looking into several methods to make battery systems simpler, cheaper, and more accessible to the average homeowner. Other routes that we are considering include using solar power to save on heating costs and improving the internal communication of solar-battery systems.
