The Leak Geeks are determined to employ a data-driven approach to mitigating the costs of pipe leaks and bursts, detecting their presence with cutting-edge technology. These costs include water loss amounting to nearly 6.4 billion dollars and the cost of repairing burst pipes which are the result of pressure on leaks. Eliminating these costs will save municipal and consumer dollars. We are considering multiple avenues to address this problem, including a detection system which will feed data to a prioritization algorithm to identify which pipes need to be repaired most immediately to prevent bursts. We are also considering an autonomous ultrasonic "listening" robot which will find leaks to save time and money from a human completing the same task. By implementing a fusion of these approaches, we aim to derive a reliable method for addressing high risk leaks and preventing pipe bursts. Contact the Leak Geeks at cduke@gatech.edu.
