When there are hurricanes in less-developed countries (LDC), low-income families suffer the most. In LDCs, low-income households rely on the government for receiving necessities, but are unable to obtain the resources because distribution of aid is not efficient. A particular consequence that follows a hurricane is the destruction of homes; roofs are blown off, and the structure of homes are severely damaged. When families lose their homes, in effect, they lose their stability and security. Therefore, a solution that addresses the issue of losing homes due to hurricanes is critical. Possible solutions include, but are not limited to the following: 1) subscription box that delivers materials before natural disasters hit, in order to protect and strengthen the interior of homes; 2) origami engineered panels that are easily stored and adapted to various houses to serve as a temporary/permanent roof; 3) communal program that educates the communities on preventative measures for hurricanes for home protection.
