Is South Africa safe?
According to the US State Department, the travel advisory for South Africa is “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution”- which is the most common level and is shared by countries like Denmark, Costa Rica, and Laos! While every country has its risks, this program was designed with safety in mind. Additionally, the faculty and staff for this program traveled to South Africa in the summer of 2024 to fully prepare for this trip, so they all have personal experience with the country and route.
Will we really get to see penguins/giraffes/rhinos etc?
While the specific excursions will vary based on timing and availability, there will absolutely be opportunities to appreciate all of South Africa’s beauty and biodiversity! This is a highly immersive program and is built with field trips and site visits already factored in.
