This program will provide students with a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of sustainability, technology, and policy in one of the most unique countries in the world. Additionally, students will learn both about and from leaders who have helped better the human condition. In class, students will be challenged to develop detailed project proposals to address a grand challenge and a personal leadership development plan that will enable them to be change makers locally and globally. A major emphasis of the program will be to instill in the students a spirit of collaboration with local stakeholders, rather than the stance of outside savior that has plagued interaction with vulnerable communities.

Students who participate in this program will:

- Understand global sustainability Issues

- Develop leadership competencies for complex problem-solving

- Apply systems thinking to global problems

- Enhance cultural competency and global perspective

- Integrate technology into sustainable solutions

- Evaluate and develop sustainability policy

- Synthesize learning into actionable plans to foster sustainability and personal growth
