Since 1990, over 27% of the world’s coral reefs have died due to a rise in ocean temperatures. Coral reefs provide the world with a multi trillion dollar industry, protection from turbulent ocean waves, and a habitat for endangered species despite only covering 1% of the ocean floors.
CoralCARE is connecting dive resorts and hotels around the world to coral restoration in order to save this dying species. By improving the efficiency of the coral transplantation process and then marketing it to hotels through ""kits,"" CoralCARE can use hotel guests to transplant coral onto reefs. This process of ecotourism is a positive feedback loop as guests would get to help the environment in an enjoyable way whereas hotels continue to support their coral reefs which, in turns, can bring in more guests.
