Price and societal stigma are major barriers that prevent people from embracing a more nutritious diet, and the lack of standardization in produce production plays a large role in this. Cheap grains like corn can be harvested en masse and require little to no maintenance after harvest, while produce must be handpicked and refrigerated, processes which add to the cost of production. We aim to improve the efficiency of the produce supply chain in order to lower cost of produce as a whole and to break the perception that eating healthy must be expensive. Our current solution is two-pronged; first, developing a method of produce storage that is cost-efficient and accessible, and second, demonstrating the increased ease of healthy eating.
