With numerous sustainability project and the completion of the Kendeda Building, Georgia Tech is doing its part to create an environmentally friendly future. Despite these strides, plastic waste still prevails in most communities. During our investigation, we found that not all plastics that are marked as recyclable is accepted at many commercial recycling centers. Expanded Polystyrene is one of these such plastics, and it is also one of the most common plastics found in the environment and landfills. Now, we are focusing on creating a market for Expanded Polystyrene in order to incentives repurposing this hard to recycle material. Our future plans are to 3D print laboratory equipment with Expanded Polystyrene. Contact Public Enemy No. 6 at jturner331@gatech.edu.
